Video From Prehistoric Forest Dinosaur Theme Park in Irish Hills, Michigan
I used to love going the Prehistoric Forest in Irish Hills as a kid. The trip there often coincided with layovers to Stagecoach Stop USA and the Mystery Spot. One year my uncle thought it would be really cool to take me to all of these stops on the way to Colon, Michigan for their annual magic festival (yes, I was a magician nerd) but when we finally got there, he realized it wasn’t until the following weekend. Needless to say, there’s not much going for Colon, Michigan any other time of the year so we just drove right back. Anyway… My friend, Nick Lloyd who’s made music videos for some cool Detroit bands in the past made this short film about the now out-of-business dinosaur theme park, The Prehistoric Forest.
From Nick:
This is my tribute to Prehistoric Forest, a dinosaur-themed roadside attraction in the Irish Hills of Onsted, Michigan. The park was once wildly popular, but has been closed since 1999. All the original dinosaurs remain, flaky and crumbling, waiting for their return to glory. The park is currently on the market for a cool $548,000.
I think I remember there being a waterslide too for some reason that I always wanted to go on, but never had swimming trunks. Oh well. Check out his video below:
