Columbus Train Derailment Fire Video

We were awakened last night to a rumble and huge flash explosion that was so bright, we thought it was already morning.  For a split second I thought I was still dreaming as I stared out our window to see a towering explosion that looked to be hundreds of feet in the air.  It’s the end of the world!  It quickly descended back to the ground in a fiery ball burning just past a water tower in the distance.

For awhile we debated whether it was the fault of some tweakers creating a bad batch or something, but after listening to the police and fire scanners they reported a train derailment that lead to the explosion of two cars carrying denatured alcohol. The train was on its way southbound and would have passed about a hundred feet from our loft which has a wall of glass windows.

The reports on the fire scanner were pretty unsure whether one of the cars involved on the train contained Styrene Monomer which is a deadly carcinogen, especially when inhaled.
