Victor Vector from the outerspace surf group Man or Astro-Man? contracted pneumonia at the end of their last tour and has been hospitalized in Vancouver since the beginning of March. He’s in the ICU and apparently is hooked up to a breathing machine since he can’t breathe on his own. I’ve seen these guys play maybe half a dozen times in Detroit, Chicago and Los Angeles (even as Man or Astro-Man Clone Project Gamma) and it’s always an amazing show. This was the first time they’ve played on tour for years and was the first time they introduced Victor Vector playing with them.
From the Man or Astro-Man? Facebook page:
“Victor Vector from Man or Astro-Man? is still in dire condition and unable to breathe on his own. We are hoping for the best for him. One thing is that like many musicians he is without health insurance. If you would like to help donate to the fund we’re doing for him to help offset the immense medical bills he and his family now have, there is a paypal account: victorvector33@gmail.com. Thanks for your kindness.”
PLEASE DONATE!!!
Update 3/16:
They’re having a surf rock benefit show in Hermosa Beach on March 27th for Victor Vector. See their page on Facebook for more information:

They have always been a huge musical influence on me and that’s one of the reasons that I joined the Amino Acids when living in Detroit. The video below was shot at The Echo in Los Angeles and features the entire show.
